A 22lr EM-2

A friend who has passed made this copy of an EM-2 in 22lr. It is amazing what people can come up with. Defiantly an interesting rifle.

Working on the chamber fluting press

When we last attempted to flute the chamber of the VG1-5 we had some movement in the press itself causing the fluting tool to snap.

We have made a number of changes to the fluting press to correct some of its short comings.

Here is a video of those changes.

Now on to the pictures.

Working on the CNC router

I spent most of this weekend working on the CNC router. My goal is to have it up and running this year.

To continue I now need a solder station to allow me to make up the wiring harnesses. This is the new solder station in the wood shop.

This next weekend will be the start of the wiring. At the same time I will work on the manual for the cnc router with a complete wiring diagram.

Just a quick side note. For Christmas I got a led flashlight. It has been a great help while working on this project.

Here at Gun Lab we go through a great deal of 7.92×33 ammo testing the weapons that we are making as well as making and using proof loads.

I used to have a set of reloading and forming dies, then someone borrowed them and he and my reloading dies are gone. These will come in handy making the proof loads.

I came across this write at The Firearms Blog. I have always found the East German KK-MPI-69 to be an interesting rifle. I thought I would go into a little more depth on the parts of this fascinating trainer.

Working on the VG1-5 stock

With the router table completed, for the most part, we started working on the stocks for the VG1-5 rifle. This video takes the stock from a rough sawed pattern to the finished dimensional stock.

To complete this task we used two different router bits. The first bit

being a bearing guided bit that rides on the pattern that was made in the shop, by Axel,

and the second one is a bearing guided bit that runs across the stock.

This is a video of the process to make the stock.

With this step completed the next set of holes will be drilled on the drill press and then the stocks will be fitted to the individual rifles.

In addition to working on the router table time was also spent on the fab shop addition.This is the view walking into the addition.

The usual weekend update

Another weekend has come and gone. I just do not know where the time goes anymore. The weekend ends seem to take forever to get here and in a flash they are gone.

There were two main projects that I needed to complete this weekend. The first is re-work and finish up the router table. The second was to finish the siding and roof of the fab shop addition.

This post will deal with the router table.

I started out with the table looking like this.

There is only a miter track and a piece of scrap lumber for a fence. In addition there is no dust collector system on the router table.
