This post deals with welding the rear upper housing together. We start with the finished pressing of the cap.
And mating it with the housing that we stamped earlier we end up with the final product.

Do you have any pictures or video of the stamping of the rear upper area with the “louvered” area? I would love to see how you got the ridges to “extrude” around a round shape.

I observed one housing in the last photograph was welded completely.
Will all the tacked gaps eventually be welded together?
Providing no harm to function ensues I prefer the battle scar appearance to the pimpled one; It could do naught but aid strength.
Would still love to see a couple pics on how you got the extruded areas around the round section on the upper.
By “extruded areas” I believe you mean stiffening corrugation formed by pressing as detailed in this post http://gunlab.net/4th-post-on-building-the-vg1-5/
Thanks JB for the re-direct. That is what I was looking for. I hadn’t realized these were corrugated in the flat and then rolled.
