if you push your exposure up about 2/3 of a stop you’ll see a lot more detail. Especially important when photographing black (or dark) objects against a white background as it tends to fool the camera’s light meter into under exposing a bit.
It’s the gas regulator for the Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova (aka Dragunov sniper rifle). This one looks to be non-adjustable, meaning it may be from the hunting-rifle version, the “Tiger.”
