Saw it in person, great work and I can’t wait.
an idea:
a display model who can’t be fired (like pedersoli does with muzzle loaders) with firing pin welded in the bolt and no chamber in the barrel for collectors or countries like germany england ect…
Ordered mine this morning, can not wait to see it in person. Harry
Saw this at SAR in Phoenix on Friday, looks really good.
Got mine on order.. Hey Chuck,, are you going to try to reproduce the sling bracket on the butt stock ?? After looking at some original VG 1-5’s and looking at my Original German Gas Mask Canisters it looks like they were using Gas Mask Canister Straps for the Slings ??
Jeff
I have been looking for the sling material and have not had much luck. If you know where I can find some please let me know.
How close is this to what you need, guys?

Greg and Matt’s mailbox is full.
I will contact Greg tomorrow.
Put my order in to Matt by phone. He says they’re selling out fast. He’s really excited, and unlike Greg hasn’t even had eyes on the gun yet!
This has been a Holy Grail of WWII collectors for 70 years now.
$4,000 for a rifle that was designed to be quick and cost-effective to produce.
Looks like you even get the wrong stock for the price too.
Cost-effective to produce in large numbers – not so much to make a few dozen.
The stock on the production guns will not have the sling bar in it.
You can always buy an original. They cost about 35,000.
The stock design has already been changed back to the original design.
I saw an original VG-1 at a gun show in 1980-81. The price back then I clearly remember 2500.00 dollars. One row of tables over was a German MG34 live transferable matching gun. The price 1850.00 My how the times have changed.
I still hear stories to this day of how some guy saw an original MG42 at a gunshow for $1500, a VG 1-5 for $2000, a Gewehr 43 for $500 but I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting anyone whom actually jumped on one of those deals. Kind of like fishing stories, the big one always gets away.
[…] a prototype of the reproduction VG1-5 (or more correctly called the Gustloff MP-507) rifles that are available for sale from Chuck at GunLab.net. I will take some slow motion footage of a production example as well, once I have it in […]
Congrats ☺
Are the barrel chambers fluted on these? How are you reproducing that?
I held one in England at the Royal Small Arms Collage in Swindon when I was sent by Beretta in 2007 to assist in a weapons demo (ARX-160) to British SF. Looks like you did a nice job.
How long are they going to be in production and what caliber is it in?
How do I order one?

There is no Such collage anywhere in the UK, and never has been.
Chuck, was great visiting your facility this afternoon !!!
Hello
What is the progress on these?
Rufus, Vince probably meant this – The Royal Military College of Science and Technology, Shrivenham, near Swindon. It has existed since 1772 named one thing or another, (as Military College of Science) and received its “Royal” in 1953.
Hello Chuck,
Any updates on this bad boy?
Yes there is. We have made a new welding fixture and machining fixture for the receiver. Most of the rifles have been had fitted for the fire control groups, machining fixture. The big hold up has been the work going on in the wood shop so I can get the cnc router up and running.
Hello, Any plans to produce the 05 Great? Would like to order one. Thanks!
I have an original for sale. Make me a reasonable offer.
Is there any update on the status of these being produced and shipped to customers?
Are these still available to preorder? Would like to preorder one but don’t know if they are still available and when they will ship?
