The answer to the mystery part is an MP-44 sear . Here is a picture of the component parts and how it sets in the rifles fire control mechanism.
It is hard to get a good picture of it in the rifle as you can only see the top of the part.

Next time it would help to have something for size comparison. It looked like it could have been a pipe spanner if it was big enough.
I was thinking the same. A ruler would be great next to the part.
I was going to guess it was an artillery shell fuse wrench, but held off as I did not want not make a fool of myself.
My take away from this is not to assume the size of anything without a measure/reference.
I will make a fool of my self next week!
I will add a reference on all further pictures that I take for posting on the what is it Saturday segment.
Having a bunch of those I should have picked up on what that was!

Looking again, mine look way more like the one in the drawing than the one depicted in “what is it”.
