The illusive Pedersen device.
Here are a few pictures of the rifle and device.
As promised here is the manual for the Pedersen device.
The most interesting part of the manual are the pictures showing the components. This is actually a complex part.
Note that the author of the manual is the likely the same S.G. Green credited with the redesign of Browning’s Cal. 50 M1921 into the M2.
Thx
I don’t believe I’ve every read how much the US government paid for these. Has anyone here every seen what they paid? Also, someone said there was a version for the Mosin? Is that true?
IMO and with my 20-20 hind sight, the US government should have kept the ones they made. They wouldn’t have had to make the M1 carbine.
There is a version for the Mosin Nagant and the 1917 Enfield.
Martin: Prototypes were fabricated for both the M1917 and the Mosin-Nagant. And no, I can’t see them being an adequate substitute for the M1 Carbine. The weight and length alone of the parent rifles would have made them nonviable.
having looked through the manual , it looks like the patient and the final production version differ quite a bit
but they do seem to function the same way
and with the picture there should be enough there to mockup a working prototype ?
