In my off time, work has been completed on the AR-16 upper receiver right side. In case you don’t remember this rifle it is a 308 predecessor of the AR-180. Only 4 were made and of those only 2 are known to exist. I had the opportunity to photograph one a while back at the Reed Knight collection.

Mr Knight was nice enough to let me look at and photograph them, however I doubt he will let me have one. As I really want one of these in my collection I have taken it upon my self to reverse engineer it to make me one. This is what I worked on this weekend between everything else.

What is behind the bulge on the LHS of the upper receiver? Some kind of bolster? No such bulge on the AR-18 upper receiver.
If you would like some help modeling up the gun please let me know. I would love to help out.

I had read in the Black Rifle the 3 AR-16’s weren’t stamped but machined to give the appearance that they were stamped…
Did they look like they were machined or stamped???

They were stamped. I have looked at two of them up close.
If you ever decide to manufacture the AR-16, I would jump at the chance to buy several. I have been a big AR-180 fan for years. First rife I bought was a Sterling AR-180 and I would love to have a 7.62 version. Keep up the good work.

Sir, what is the design of the ar16 rear sight. Through the side hole I see a disk.
