In keeping with the M-1 Garand posts here and at The firearms Blog, http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/12/16/making-m1-garand/. I though I would provide a couple of pictures of what the receiver looked like after it was forged and with the flashing cut off.
First the side views.
Finally the bottom view. The amount of work to go from this to a working receiver is enormous.
Here are a few pictures after it has been partially machined, actually far enough along to have a serial number on it.
Again the side views.
The top view. As of yet the receiver has not been marked with the manufacture’s name.
Where did you get the forging from? Any more progress on this project? Thanks.
I would also like to know where to find a forging!
