There was a print of it [...]]]> While doing research on the 1917 trench carbine I came across a rifle that I have never seen or even heard of. The V9000. There is a video on YouTube posted by LAI Publications. I just fell for this cute carbine.

I thank LAI publications for posting about this rare and interesting weapon. I decided that I need one in my collection. There is no chance of buying one and it is full auto so actually making one that is exact is out of the question. However I can make a semi auto one. As with all of my projects I need to design it from scratch. With that in mind I have started just that, but I am making a few changes to the design. First I will make it in 9mm and not in 7.62×25 Mauser. Second, I am going to make it to use a different magazine. I have never been a fan of the Mauser style magazine. they are expensive, a number of the ones I have do no fit properly and they are hard to fine.

My favorite magazine for my Broomhandle projects is the Finnish M/20 smg magazine. They are available at Apex gun parts.

It is a great magazine that I will cut down to 25 rds.

The first step was to design the lower receiver to use a M/20 magazine. I started this process with using a cut Chinese Schnellfeuer lower.

I was able to make a basic solid model but with the proper dimensions for the M/20 magazine.

There is a number of features missing from this model but, it is just a starting point. So I printed it out on m Bambu P2S 3D printer.

I was able to check to see if my magazine housing was dimension properly, and it was.

The next print will have the magazine release button. The rear of the receiver needs to be corrected. the bottom of the receiver is to thick and it receiver needs to have  internal dimensions reduced. I am currently working on the second model receiver and should have it completed by the end of next weekend. I also need to add the dove tail slot in the front of the receiver

All the holes were drilled in op1 so now the [...]]]> With op 1 completed it is now time to work on op 2 and 3. First a fixture needed to be machined to hold the machined receiver to all finishing the other side.

When the second side was complete receiver was removed and debured and parts were checked for proper fit,

 The magazine release was checked for proper fit.

Op 3 was conducted, out of house, This is where the magazine housing was edm. it was then checked with a number of magazines to verify proper fit.

The whole week of events went great. It started with the pre-show shoot. This is just a little get together where the [...]]]> This is a quick update. The first 5 finished VG1-5 rifles were at the SAR show and were quickly picked up by there owners. One of the Groto 6 rifles was also sold.

In this case I brought out my Webley Fosbery and anyone that wanted to shoot it could.

In addition the Sterling and Bren gun were brought out making it a British weekend.

Thursday is vendor set up day and all the guests were at the show setting up. Friday through Sunday was the actual show. The general chat about the show was how good it was, actually my best show ever for both selling and buying. I obtain a number of books for the reference library, both at the show and the week prior. These are from the show.

And the ones ordered.

The reading material alone made the show a success for me. How ever at this show is when I generally spend my saved gun money. I was able to obtain a number of missing pieces for the reference collection. Three new rifles were added.

The solid models for the new design trigger [...]]]> With mainly doing the hand fitting on the rifle we are correcting a few problems that have come up. This issue is the trigger guard. The original design that we had did not have the correct look and was actually to close to the trigger it self.

The second style increased the space for the trigger, but the angle of the stock lower support was incorrect and the lower stock support was now to short.

The shape and the diameter looks a great deal better with this new design.

The older style trigger guard required a great deal of work to fit up and the angle was still not correct.  Neither was the actual diameter size.

This is a Nepalese Enfield rifle.

This rifle has now gone to the Pattern Room to be added to there permanent collection.

Starting on Wednesday we have a little pre SAR machine gun shoot. Everything went perfect with the shoot, the weather was absolutely the best with a little cloud cover and [...]]]> Well the SAR show is over and everyone is now heading home or all ready there. This is the run down from the entire weekend.

Starting on Wednesday we have a little pre SAR machine gun shoot. Everything went perfect with the shoot, the weather was absolutely the best with a little cloud cover and no wind. Once again we took out the Gerat 06 rifles for everyone to try out. There were the usual MG42’s and 34’s,  Brens and Lewis guns, a very nice 08 Maxim, 1919’s as well as a few cannons. And an assortment of sub-machine guns. Everyone had a great time.

At the show I was able to obtain some more for the Farquhar Hill rifle. I still need a bolt. If anyone knows where one is at please let me know.

I also picked up a few examples for the reference collection.

Some more books and manuals were also gotten for the library.

The Saturday pizza party went over very well. A number of people brought some very interesting items to show everyone.

In addition the new Cetme L was also at the show and party. I had an opportunity to shoot it at the Wednesday shoot. I can’t wait to get one. It looks and functions great.

It was a great show, a great party and a great shoot. I am counting down the days until the next show.
