More work in the Gun Room

I spent Sunday making the last of the gun racks for the gun room. After the last couple of weekends most of the new gun racks had bin built. I still needed to make a couple of racks for where the books used to be stored. While working on everything else the shorter rifle were just stacked in there.

Not exactly the best method for storing the rifles. New racks were made to prevent the rifles from falling over.

This is how the complete wall looks like.

This hopefully will end the rack building project list.

More work in the gun room

This weekend was again spent trying to make and install new gun racks for the gun room. Not as much work was accomplished as was hope for, a number for friends showed up with interesting and fun toys to play with and take pictures of. In addition it was my fathers 93 birthday and time was spent with him. I did manage to finish out three more gun racks and moved all the guns in the kitchen and living room back into the gun room.

I happen to like the Martini-Henry rifle and have a couple of them. So, I had a little space by the closet door and thought it would be a great spot for some of them.

This gives you a better over all idea of the space I had available.

I then built the larger gun rack at the end of the room.

Finally I re-hung some older racks that I took down for the sub-machine gun and semi auto carbines

The last of the racks will be built hopefully next weekend.

Weekend update

First things first. I am dog beat tired. I will post pictures later about everything. Changes were made to the wood shop, solid models were done and a new rifle rack was worked on.

So lets start at the beginning. Saturday was spent with the computer system that I could not get to work correctly only to have my son come in on Sunday and not even find a problem. Make note to self to beat to death a computer for the computer gods.

I started redrawing for a new set of gun racks which will be finished this next week. The solid modeling just did not want to play nice. It took a number of tries to get it correct in an assembly. Pictures to come.

I also started working on drawings for a Volcanic pistol that I want to make some day. That also went to crap, it was just not a day for computer work.

I went to work on cleaning out the pantry and setting up the photographic area. It is amazing just how much junk I can accumulate on a single horizontal surface. With that completed I started on the rifle/pistol photograph stand. I have the remainder of the stand to complete this coming week when the missing components come in.

Sunday turn out a great deal more productive. I move out a great deal of equipment from the wood shop and installed a new CNC router. Wow, another machine to learn how to use. Half of dozen friends dropped by to say hi and it was nice to see them all. And the most exciting news, I made most of the new gun rack for the gun room.

Weekend Update 11-24

Well as usual it has been a busy weekend around Gun Lab. More parts have been made for the VG1-5, coming soon in a post. The big project was the water system. The pressure pump took a crap. It just turn the pump room into a swamp and need to be fixed in a bad way.

What a mess. This is how it looked after 5 hours of working on it. Of course the dimensions changed on the pump so everything had to be re-plumbed. This time with unions.

The next projected finished was to finish enclosing the dust collector addition. It is now water tight and all I need to do is the electrical hook ups for the air compressor and dust collector.

The dust collector is now in the room.The exciting news is where we are at with the fluting machine. Stile a few components to make but we are getting there.

This is the start of bolting it together.

The final project completed was my new gun rack. It is now up and loaded in the reference library.

One busy weekend.

Weekend update 11-17

As always there is to much to do and not enough time to complete all of it. First is the update to the addition to the wood shop. The door is hung and the roof is up. The roof and sides are epoxy and fabric covered, for the most part. One more day and I should have it complete. Here are a few pictures of the project as the end of Sunday.

And a quick look inside. I still have the dust collector ducting, the air piping and the lighting circuit to complete. After all that is complete I will insulate,sheet and sheet rock.

Talking about the wood shop. I was on a job and was chatting with the home owner and a piece of equipment in his garage and he gave it to me. So meet the new addition to the shop.

It is a router table with a real nice Porter Cable router. It is funny that I just bought the same router last week for 309.00. I sold the new one to my neighbor today.

More work was completed on the rifle rack that I started a couple of weeks ago.

I will cut the slots for the top and bottom hole this week and then set it up in the gun room.

I spent most of Saturday in a class on anodizing and I have a little write up on that in the future.

Last but not least I made a number of pieces for the stock washers. Simple parts but time consuming.
