		<description><![CDATA[Martin: Prototypes were fabricated for both the M1917 and the Mosin-Nagant.  And no, I can&#039;t see them being an adequate substitute for the M1 Carbine.  The weight and length alone of the parent rifles would have made them nonviable.]]></description>

IMO and with my 20-20 hind sight, the US government should have kept the ones they made. They wouldn&#039;t have had to make the M1 carbine.]]></description>
