I am still here. I did not take apart the carriage, instead I just made a tool using an allen wrench and a piece of flat stock to allow me to lock the carriage. It was a great deal easier. As for the creep I tried cheap dro's and changed over to a better unit.

Hi!
Are You still there ? Sorry for my bad English. I found these pages when searching help for DRO assembly. My lathe is very similar to yours,
I imported it from Taiwan (Frejoth FA900GH )long ago, maybe 1983. Some years ago I fitted it with those cheap digital scales. They work well but are not stable and I must check the dimension every while as they creep.

I have a set of Glass Scale DRO waiting for assembly.

Now my question,
the carriage lock, it's on the way. If I shorten the bolt and make a new nut and special wrench, I might get the lock working.
CAN THE BOLT BE REMOVED AND REPLACED ( for machining ) without disassembling the whole carriage+saddle unit ??

Regards

Thank you Harry. I hope to have a few more this weekend. Then we will be starting on the next part. With no blueprints and not an original here to look at it has been a challenge. A fun one to be sure.

The biggest problem is the amount of work on each one. We have actually completed the next two ops on them and are now cutting out the notches for the lock in. Ian is coming up soon to help me with the video's that we took. I hope to be completed with this s psrt by next week.
