Interesting single shot pistol

Once again Axel , a friend of gun lab, has found another interesting and unusual weapon. This time it is a single shot 6mm pistol. I just wish it was available here in the states. It is the Pistolet Le Moustic.

I am kind of a sucker for single shot pistols and have posted a few on this site. I am also have an interest in home made guns, other gunsmith sites and video’s on making guns. So this post will cover all these topics at one time.

He has come up with an interesting design and a series of videos to build it.

There are a couple of solid model mock ups to let you see how it all works

I like the design so much that when I have an opportunity I am going to build one to add to my single shot/home made gun collection.

What you are looking at is the spigot stem to a “Bigot”. For those of you not familiar with this weapon it is a dart firing adapter for a 1911 pistol.

Another 22 single shot pistol

This post is about another interesting pistol that I had an opportunity to look at while on my trip through the mid-west. This pistol is the S&M single shot pistol, called the SM Sporter 22 lr. It is a single shot pistol with an automatic opening bolt, much like a semi-auto pistol, but it stays open after every shot. This allows the shooter to reload and then using the bolt release to close the bolt. To fire the weapon make sure the safety is off and squeeze the trigger. It has the look and shape of a Ruger semi-auto pistol

Interesting Mexican pistol

While on this trip I had the opportunity to look at a number of interesting pistols. As I have a think for single shot inexpensive pistols when I had the chance to look and photograph a Mendoza pistol ( the same company that brought you the light machine gun and sub-machine gun) I jumped at the opportunity. This is a Rafael Mendoza, Productos Mendoza, S.A. This pistol was mad for the general Mexican population until they changed the law and for the most part banded the private ownership of weapons. It was made to look like a 6 shot single action revolver but was really only a single shot pistol in 22lr. It had spots on both sides to hold 3 rounds per side. The majority of the pistol was plastic with the barrel, locking block and fire control mechanism being made of metal. My friend John D. had two copies of the pistol that he let me photograph.

With these pictures you can see the simple and basic breach block.

I find this type of weapon interesting hope you do as well. If anyone has any pictures of simple and basic 22 pistols I would love to see them and publish them as well. Thanks
