SAR show 2017

Well the SAR show is over and everyone is now heading home or all ready there. This is the run down from the entire weekend.

Starting on Wednesday we have a little pre SAR machine gun shoot. Everything went perfect with the shoot, the weather was absolutely the best with a little cloud cover and no wind. Once again we took out the Gerat 06 rifles for everyone to try out. There were the usual MG42’s and 34’s, Brens and Lewis guns, a very nice 08 Maxim, 1919’s as well as a few cannons. And an assortment of sub-machine guns. Everyone had a great time.

At the show I was able to obtain some more for the Farquhar Hill rifle. I still need a bolt. If anyone knows where one is at please let me know.

I also picked up a few examples for the reference collection.

Some more books and manuals were also gotten for the library.

The Saturday pizza party went over very well. A number of people brought some very interesting items to show everyone.

In addition the new Cetme L was also at the show and party. I had an opportunity to shoot it at the Wednesday shoot. I can’t wait to get one. It looks and functions great.

It was a great show, a great party and a great shoot. I am counting down the days until the next show.

Gun Lab update

This is an answer to a friends question about a particular project.

It is good to always keep checking with me. Things can get a little hectic around here. This is the status of the projects here.

1) the MP-44 trunnions test pieces have been completed and sent to the buyer. A few changes need to be made and we are correcting the drawings now.A post coming up about that next.

2) I hope to have the parts to fix the wire edm in this week and have it back up and getting it operational, this is for the mag wells on the AR-10.

3) we are finishing the tooling for the VG1-5 project so spot welding can go on in mass next week. While on the subject of the VG1-5 a new trigger guard stamping die has to be made, to look more like the original one. Still waiting for the heat treated parts to come back. The parkerizing set up is ready to start parking parts.

4) The cetme receiver has been solid modeled and the stamping dies are currently modeled as well, need to finish up the final oddities.

6) The AR-10 lower receiver has been modeled and half of it has been programmed to machine.; The work on the AR-10 lower will start again as soon as I can get the VG1-5 off of the HAAS machining center, need to change all the tooling out to aluminum cutters.

7) The AR-180b upper receiver stamping dies are 98% complete and hope to have them finished tomorrow. We are still waiting for the parts to come back from heat treat for this as well. Then we will start parkerizing them also.

So far That is about it. I am still working on the cnc router, made a new panel this weekend.

A quick Gun Lab update

I have to say that I am sorry about the lack of posts. In my defense I must say that my full time business and what actually supports me and Gun Lab has been hectic and very busy. It has been so busy that this is my first lunch break in two weeks. Starting my day at 4:30 am to get out the door and not getting home until 8 or 9 at night has made it tough to write any posts.

I will be taking off next weekend to take a quick trip to work.

This is the bolt and bolt carrier for the Cetme model L.

It is part of the kit that I received from Apex gun parts.

I also bought some of there magazines.

It is a interesting looking gun and one that I am looking forward to build in the future.

To this end a start has been made. As always the first step is to design the receiver so we can make stamping dies. A great deal of work has been accomplished toward this goal. Now it is necessary to get the last few measurements that we don’t currently have. So here are the solid models as they currently look.

Still working on the internal block and how to convert to semi-auto only to meet ATFE requirements.

It looks like a fun project and is on the list,but have the finish the VG1-5 first and a solid model project for our friend back east. I am thinking a 3 or 4 die stamping die set.
